Beberapa permasalahan terkait penegakan kode etik yang dilakukan DKPP bermunculan seiring dengan banyaknya aduan pelanggaran etika yang diadukan kepada DKPP. Beberapa penyelenggara pemilu yang mendapatkan aduan dan telah menerima putusan atas aduannya merasa kewenangan DKPP melampaui apa yang sudah ditetapkan apalagi dengan sifat putusan DKPP yang final dan mengikat serta beberapa permasalahan lain yang akan muncul apabila penyelenggara pemilu yang terbukti melanggar kode etik diberikan putusan diberhentikan tetap.
Dari permasalahan yang ada, penting untuk dilakukan kajian atas Etika Penyelenggara Pemilu dapat mengarah kepada beberapa aspek spesifik yang sering disangkutkan dengan pelaksanaan kode etik penyelenggara pemilu itu sendiri. Bagaimana penegakan kode etik bagi penyelenggara pemilu yang berkeadilan dapat dijadikan sebagai proyeksi dan arah ke depan bagaimana etika penyelenggara pemilu dapat dilaksanakan dengan baik. Selain itu aspek terkait pelaksanaan tindak lanjut atas putusan DKPP juga perlu penegasan agar ke depan juga tidak ada lagi putusan DKPP yang tidak dilaksanakan karena adanya pertentangan dengan lembaga lainnya.
